‘Quality’ Chelsea player has proven he is undroppable for Enzo Maresca after performance vs Brentford

There was very little for Chelsea fans to shout about after their 0-0 draw across West London against Brentford in the Premier League.

The Blues created very little in front of goal, and the performances of the likes of Christopher Nkunku disappointed in a rare chance for them to make their mark.

Enzo Maresca decided to rest Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson after they both started three days earlier against Tottenham. The pair have only just returned from injury and are set to be crucial players in the run in.

A number of other changes were made from the side who took on Spurs. Marc Cucurella, Levi Colwill and Pedro Neto all made their way to the bench as other players were tasked with keeping their place in the top four.

One of the players who was handed a start was Tosin Adarabioyo. The defender had started three of the five Premier League games before the game against Arsenal before the international break.

Tosin Adarabioyo is undroppable for Chelsea right now

Despite being signed on a free transfer, the former Fulham man is having a real impact on the side both on and off the pitch. Many see Tosin as one of the leaders in the Chelsea squad.

The centre-back didn’t really put a foot wrong in his outing across the capital, with the Blues making it back-to-back clean sheets in the Premier League.

Wesley Fofana is to miss the rest of the season after picking up another injury, and the role of partnering Levi Colwill is up for grabs for the remainder of the campaign.

Tosin’s experience combined with what he is providing on the pitch should make him the clear favourite for those minutes in the Premier League’s final few weeks.

Todd Boehly proven wrong by Tosin

It was reported earlier this season that despite him being free, Todd Boehly was not a fan of signing tosin during the most recent summer transfer window.

He reportedly would have rather kept Trevoh Chalobah, who ironically partnered him at the back against Brentford after being recalled from his loan away.

There was never an expectation for Tosin to be one of the first names on the teamsheet this season, however his addition has proven to be one of the best bits of business they completed over the summer.

However, the Blues knew they were getting a proven centre-back at this level. His former manager, Marco Silva, has previously described him as ‘quality’.

This should be the blueprint going forwards for the owners in terms of the calibre of player they should be bringing in, with experience the one thing they are desperately missing in their first team squad.
