‘Special’ Chelsea player can break into the starting XI with strong Conference League performances

So far, it has seemed that Enzo Maresca has two different sides in mind for Chelsea depending on the competition they are playing in.

Enzo Maresca made 11 changes from the side who started in the Premier League when they took part in EFL Cup action last week against Barrow, with them mostly being reverted back to their originals when Brighton visited Stamford Bridge.

This will likely not be the plan for long, with fixture pile-up and injuries sure to play a part.

There have been few changes to the defence in the Premier League this season. Both Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill have started every game together.

The Frenchman is not in the squad for the Conference League group stages though, meaning a guaranteed chance will present itself for someone to prove they should take his role.

Tosin Adarabioyo has chance to break into Chelsea starting XI

Tosin Adarabioyo has been on the cusp of starting domestic games this season. He proved he had no problem slotting in during the 3-0 win over West Ham.

There was plenty of excitement over the fact he was signed as a free agent, with him being previously described as a ‘special’ player.

He is likely to be a starter for the European games, starting with tonight against Gent at Stamford Bridge.

Given the fact that they will feel as if they are taking on lower-level opposition than they normally would, it has to be said it is a great opportunity for Adarabioyo to state his case to the manager.

Axel Disasi looking to prove himself

This will be something a number of other defenders are hoping to prove in the Chelsea squad, with one of those being Axel Disasi.

Disasi has been tipped to start tonight after training ahead of the game, however it is predicted to be in the right-back position.

He is reportedly last choice when it comes to centre-back at the club at the moment, and he could well be playing for his future whenever he takes to the pitch this season.
