‘Special’ Chelsea player is in danger of losing his place after 5-0 win vs Barrow

Enzo Maresca is going to have to make some big calls when his Chelsea side take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

His attackers are really flourishing at the moment, with Chelsea just beating Barrow 5-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Christopher Nkunku scored a hat-trick, so he will be pushing to start against Brighton, while Pedro Neto managed to grab his first goal for the club.

Nkunku has now given Maresca a problem, according to Dean Saunders, with the Italian potentially having to choose between the Frenchman and Nicolas Jackson. However, he is also going to have to make a decision with Noni Madueke.

Noni Madueke’s spot at risk

Madueke was excellent in Chelsea’s first Premier League win of the season, scoring a hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Madueke has really impressed Jamie O’Hara, who claims he would take the winger over Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.

Since his three goals at Molineux, though, Madueke has not scored or provided an assist for Chelsea.

Neto obviously netted on Tuesday night, so he will be hoping to start against Brighton, while there is no reason why Maresca cannot move Cole Palmer to the right and use Nkunku as a No.10 in order to get both the 26-year-old and Jackson into the same side.

Will Pedro Neto start over Noni Madueke against Brighton?

Neto and Madueke are Chelsea’s main right-wing options at this moment in time, so the likelihood is that one of them will start on Saturday.

Given that Madueke was not even on the bench for the Barrow win, it may very well be him. But he has to be on his toes now as Neto and Nkunku find form.

Chelsea view Madueke as a “special” talent, according to Fabrizio Romano. The England international has to keep showing that at Stamford Bridge this season, otherwise he is going to lose his spot in the team. The competition at the club right now is ridiculous.
