Christopher Nkunku’s debut season at Chelsea did not pan out the way he would have hoped.

Because of injuries, Christopher Nkunku‘s game time was limited. In the end, the 26-year-old only went on to make 11 appearances in the Premier League, and only two of those were starts.

Even so, there is no denying that Nkunku is a capable goalscorer. He finished his final season at RB Leipzig with 23 goals in 36 outings.

After a good pre-season with Chelsea this summer, the Stamford Bridge faithful could get to see that Nkunku very soon.

Christopher Nkunku’s pre-season

Again, when you look at Nkunku’s track record, there are no doubts about his quality. The last couple of years, the real problem has been keeping him fit.

However, going into the new campaign, the Frenchman looks to be in perfect condition and ready for what lies ahead.

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Nkunku actually played more minutes (443) than any other Chelsea player in the club’s pre-season this summer.

The above shows that Nkunku is fully fit and could be about to have a very bright campaign. If the France international remains that way, he has the ability to score lots of goals for Enzo Maresca‘s men.

Chelsea fans should be getting excited about Nkunku ahead of their side’s Premier League opener against Manchester City on Sunday. He could be like a new signing for the team.

How many goals will Christopher Nkunku score this season?

If Nkunku can stay fit, there is no reason why the former Leipzig man cannot hit the 20-goal mark.

With all of the options that the new Chelsea manager has, there will probably be a lot of rotation. But you would expect a player of Nkunku’s calibre to be starting more often than not.

Nkunku is already on Maresca’s good side; he could quickly become a favourite under the Italian.

All in all, after a pre-season where he managed to play often and find the back of the net, Nkunku is on course to have a brilliant year at Chelsea.
