Jarrod Bowen has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea from West Ham United after the Hammers were relegated, but the England star could end up staying put after all.
Since West Ham’s relegation to the Championship, Bowen has been linked with plenty of Premier League sides. Chelsea are among those, handing Bowen the chance to remain in London with his young family.
Jarrod Bowen to Chelsea if West Ham get relegated. Discuss…
But there are plenty of caveats, too. Bowen of course, is the son-in-law of famous West Ham fan Danny Dyer. He is West Ham captain and, importantly, West Ham are set for an enormous influx of about £85m.
Big-spending Tottenham are set to sign Mateus Fernandes from the Hammers in an £85m deal. A move that strengthens West Ham’s coffers and reduces the need to sell players after suffering relegation.
West Ham drop hint that Jarrod Bowen is actually staying put
There is no doubt that Bowen would be a good signing for most Premier League clubs. He has scored double digits in all competitions for five seasons in a row now, and in the Championship, he will shine.

Indeed, the Championship is below him. Yet, he is West Ham’s captain and his goal to win the Conference League makes him a West Ham legend. But against all odds, it now looks as if Bowen may stay put.
That is after West Ham posted images of their kit for the new season, with Bowen front and centre. The Hammers would hardly give kit duties to a player like Fernandes, or one who was expected to leave.
Bowen is pictured sporting the new kit with many West Ham fans commenting, of the opinion – and hope – it suggests that he is staying despite relegation. Perhaps Bowen will give West Ham one season.
Which other wingers are Chelsea supposedly targeting?
The Blues have plenty of wide players on their radar. Chelsea’s priorities are Granit Xhaka, Pep Chavarria and Maxence Lacroix, but once the defence is sorted out, Chelsea are set to look at attacking additions.
Bowen is one option, as is his West Ham teammate Crysencio Summerville. The 2023-24 Championship Player of the Season also has interest from Man United and Paris Saint-Germain ahead of the summer.
DISCUSS: Jarrod Bowen is a better signing than Rafael Leao…
Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.
Then there is Uruguay’s top scorer at the World Cup, in Maxi Araujo, who can also play as a wing-back. Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup and Milan ace Rafael Leao are also among the players linked with Chelsea.
A new left-winger is likely given the form of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho, though Geovany Quenda’s arrival does give the Blues competition. Pedro Neto and Estevao are able to play both sides.
