At the start of the summer, it looked as if Chelsea might raid Como for Cesc Fabregas. Now, as the summer goes on, it looks more and more likely that the Italian side will sign a Chelsea player.
Fabregas was strongly considered as the man to replace Liam Rosenior this summer, but after guiding Como to the Champions League, Fabregas decided to remain at Como. Xabi Alonso has been installed.
Alonso is now officially Chelsea’s manager, even if he will not take office until next week. He has the small task of trimming Chelsea’s bloated squad after the Blues failed to qualify for European competition.
With Marco Palestra officially in the building, does he instantly start over Reece James or Malo Gusto?👀
Marc Cucurella and Jimmy-Jay Morgan have gone, while Marco Palestra has been confirmed, and both Dastan Satpaev and Geovany Quenda have already arrived for training. Plenty is expected to happen.
By the time Chelsea face Western Sydney Wanderers on July 28, Chelsea’s squad will look very different, and Como can help with that. Chalobah has been linked with Como, and now Fabregas wants another.
Fabregas wants another Chelsea defender instead of Chalobah
Como have made an offer for Chalobah, who is currently with England at the World Cup. It is believed Chelsea want £35m for Chalobah, but Como have only managed to make a bid of around £25m.

However, it appears Chalobah is not the only player on Como’s list. Gianluca Di Marzio reported late on Wednesday evening that Fabregas would also like to sign Tosin Adarabioyo in the coming months.
Tosin is further down the pecking order at Chelsea than Chalobah, though the two defenders have the least amount of time remaining on their contracts in Alonso’s squad. His contract expires in June 2028.
Reports differ on Tosin’s future at Chelsea
Tosin finds himself behind the likes of Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Jorrel Hato, Josh Acheampong and Levi Colwill in Chelsea’s pecking order, while the Blues are keen on doing a £52m+ deal for Maxence Lacroix.
Who would you start in a five-man defence for Chelsea?
However, Alonso appreciates Tosin’s experience and could look to keep the defender because of that. But Tosin is unlikely to want another season on the bench or out of the side during the 2026-27 campaign.
Especially without the added game time of Europe. More recent reports have indicated that Tosin was offered to Palace in negotiations to get a deal done for Lacroix, but Palace rejected signing the defender.
One to keep an eye on, but one thing is for certain. Chelsea will have to get rid of some of their centre-backs, and Tosin is certainly behind a whole host of options and will fall further down if Lacroix joins.
