Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez made an “outstanding” save in Sunday’s contest against Manchester City.
That is according to Mark Schwarzer.
Chelsea were involved in yet another crazy Premier League fixture in the space of a week, this time drawing 4-4 at home to Manchester City.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side gave a fantastic account of themselves when playing at home to the league champions
Eventually, after a fast-paced thriller, Cole Palmer’s stoppage time penalty for Chelsea tied the game at 4-4. It means they’re 10th in the league table right now.
The Blues should go into the international break with great confidence knowing they’re good enough to compete with the best around. Now, it’s about this young team finding consistency and gelling together.

Super save
Mark Schwarzer, who’s a BBC pundit and retired goalkeeper, says Robert Sanchez did something “outstanding” in Sunday’s clash.
The 25-year-old Chelsea goalkeeper made a memorable save from Erling Haaland during the first half. He produced a very strong left hand to block a low drilled shot from the Man City superstar.
“That was an outstanding save! I thought Haaland did everything right, but that is an outstanding save from Sanchez,” Schwarzer told BBC Sport (5:15pm, 12 November).
Robert Sanchez performance
Yes, any goalkeeper is going to be disappointed when they leave a field having conceded four goals in their net. But Sanchez doesn’t emerge from the weekend thriller with much criticism against his name.
The £25million shot-stopper (Sky Sports) actually produced a few excellent saves in-between the sticks. He was unfortunate with a lot of the opposition’s goal, too.
The jury is still out on the Spanish gloveman for a lot of supporters, who are not convinced he’s the long-term No 1. However, he does look relatively assured in net as a big presence with great reflexes.
If he can brush up on his disruption, we’re still hopeful that there a future for him in the XI.
Journalist David Ornstein told The Athletic earlier this week that Chelsea don’t plan on signing a new goalkeeper midway through the season. That means it’s the perfect opportunity for Sanchez to cement his position and prove himself under this kind of pressure.
