Conor Gallagher received universal love from the Chelsea fanbase after his performance in yesterday’s win over Newcastle United.
Chelsea booked their spot in the Carabao Cup semi-finals after a dramatic home victory against Newcastle last night.
Mykhailo Mudryk’s stoppage time equaliser at Stamford Bridge made it 1-1 and sent the quarter-final to a penalty shootout. Afterwards, the Blues were perfect from 12 yards to overcome Newcastle 4-2 on penalties.
It’s been a challenging campaign so far for head coach Mauricio Pochettino, but his side can now look forward to a cup semi-final in the New Year. They’ll face either Fulham, Middlesbrough, Liverpool or West Ham in the semis.

Conor Gallagher, who was yet again wearing the captain’s armband, put in an eye-catching Chelsea display.
The 23-year-old midfielder was industrious throughout and desperately trying to find his side an equaliser. He had a stunning effort from the edge of the box curl off the crossbar, too.
He was one of the Blues stars that stepped up and emphatically dispatched his penalty in the shootout.
The Athletic recently reported that Chelsea will be prepared to listen to offers for Gallagher in the January transfer window. We find it astonishing that the Blues would entertain getting rid of one of their most consistent players, though.
Our hope is that the club’s hierarchy does eventually see sense and gets behind a key figure under Pochettino.

A selection of Chelsea supporter on X rallied together to agree that Gallagher was one of their top performers in the cup tie against Newcastle.
One fan wrote: “How can people still keep hating on Gallagher? He once again has been our best player so far.”
