Cole Palmer will get all the credit but 38-touch star was Chelsea’s real hero vs Brighton

Cole Palmer has been a revelation for Chelsea so far this season, but not many fans would have predicted for him to score four goals in the first half alone against Brighton.

Enzo Maresca keeps on producing the goods as Chelsea now find themselves unbeaten in their last five Premier League games, with a run at the title looking good at this early stage.

It looked like it might be a long day for Chelsea after Brighton’s opener, but Cole Palmer managed turned on the style and single-handedly took the game away from the Seagulls with his four goals.

Jason Cundy was left speechless by Palmer’s performance and believes he’s a superstar in the making.

The Englishman will get all the credit, and rightly so in some ways, as he put the ball in the back of the net.

However, one other Chelsea player in particular deserves some plaudits of his own for his performance.

Jadon Sancho the unsung hero vs Brighton

Jadon Sancho has taken his tally to three assists in three games after picking up an assist against Brighton.

After all, Sancho managed to match Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard’s records for registering an assist in each of his first three Premier League games for the Blues.

Despite picking up just one assist, the Englishman was a livewire throughout, often linking up play and starting attacks on the left.

He won eight of his duels, made seven successful dribbles, provided an assist, was fouled once, won one penalty and made one key pass, despite having just 38 touches.

Jadon Sancho won more duels than any other player in the game.

It really was as efficient as performances come from Sancho.

What does Maresca think of Sancho?

Enzo Maresca didn’t speak on Sancho after the game vs Brighton but he has already shared his admiration for the winger since he made the move.

The Italian said this last week after the win over West Ham (as per Chelsea).

“Jadon did well, it was exactly what we were expecting from him.

“‘He worked off the ball very hard with [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, and also in the second half. Then Pedro [Neto] came on and he did well, so we are happy.”

We always knew Sancho had plenty of quality after his displays at Borussia Dortmund down the years, and it now looks as if he’s reigniting that fire at Stamford Bridge.
