Like everyone else, Jason Cundy was left in awe by what he saw from Chelsea’s Cole Palmer on Saturday afternoon against Brighton.

Chelsea beat Brighton 4-2 at home to pick up another three points in the Premier League. For the Blues, it’s now 13 points from their opening six league matches this season.

There’s no doubt that Cole Palmer deserves to take up the back pages in tomorrow’s newspapers after his stunning four-goal performance at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer, 22, scored four goals inside a dramatic first half to showcase his outstanding ability. The left-footed attacker scored two goals from open play, plus a free-kick and penalty kick.

Alan Shearer raved about “unbelievable” Chelsea talent Palmer after his display at home to Brighton.

Jason Cundy delivered glowing praise on Chelsea’s Palmer for his first-half masterclass in the win against Brighton.

When discussing Palmer on Chelsea’s official app, Cundy said (3:42pm): “We’re watching an absolute superstar in the making, not to say he’s not there yet.”

He later added at half time (3:55pm): “Palmer, this kid, and he is a kid still, a young man. He’s a superstar in the making… It’s insane.”

Chelsea’s best player since Eden Hazard

Chelsea haven’t owned an individual with the individual brilliance of Palmer since the days of Hazard, someone who’s capable of single-handedly deciding football matches.

Hazard, who’s now retired, was so often the go-to figure at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian attacker regularly produced magical moments and carried teammates around him.

We think there’s a number of Chelsea stars in good form during the early parts of this season, but Palmer is on a completely different wavelength. On top of his four goals against Brighton, he was also so instrumental and created four chances (FotMob).

The decision to exclude Palmer from the Conference League squad and keep him on ice for the Premier League looks like a masterstroke.
