Demba Ba absolutely loved what ‘top-level’ Chelsea player did against West Ham

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba knows a thing or two about scoring goals.

Demba Ba was a deadly Premier League forward during his time at Newcastle United and then came up with some big goals for Chelsea.

Nicolas Jackson is the Senegal international who is leading the line for Chelsea these days, and Ba had high praise for him after his brace against West Ham United on Saturday.

Jackson helped Chelsea to a 3-0 win. After the game, Enzo Maresca also had some praise for Jackson.

Demba Ba discusses Nicolas Jackson’s second goal against West Ham United

Ba was really impressed with Jackson’s second goal in Saturday’s London derby. But rather than the finish, it was actually the way that the 23-year-old created space that caught Ba’s attention.

For the former Chelsea striker, it was “top level” and a “masterclass”. Following those two goals, only Liverpool’s Luis Diaz (five) and Erling Haaland (nine) have scored more times in the Premier League than Jackson this season.

Jackson also has a couple of assists to his name, so it has been a really good start to the campaign for the former Villarreal man.

Julen Lopetegui will feel that his defenders could have done better against him, though. Former Manchester City star and BBC pundit Nedum Onuoha feels that West Ham didn’t get close enough to Jackson.

Nicolas Jackson’s movement

What Jackson does off the ball has not really been questioned since his arrival at Stamford Bridge last summer.

The area of his game that has been criticised is his finishing. Former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel hasn’t been impressed with Jackson’s finishing, for example.

However, if Jackson can convert like how he did at the London Stadium on a more consistent basis, then he will surely win over the Chelsea legend. That second finish against Lopetegui’s men with the outside of his boot was immaculate.

Chelsea’s next Premier League game is against Brighton & Hove Albion next Saturday, and Maresca will be hoping to see more of the same.
