BBC pundit claims West Ham didn’t get anywhere near £32m Chelsea player

West Ham United really could not live with Chelsea’s attack in their 3-0 loss at the London Stadium earlier.

Chelsea‘s forward line kept on breezing past West Ham’s defence, with Nicolas Jackson having so much space for both of his goals.

It was no different for Cole Palmer’s strike either as the Blues constantly hit their opponents on the counter-attack.

Palmer’s latest goal saw him surpass Erling Haaland for goal contributions in the Premier League since the 22-year-old made his debut for Chelsea last September.

Nedum Onuoha slams West Ham’s defending for Nicolas Jackson’s second goal

Jackson’s second goal against West Ham was fantastic, with the striker scoring with the outside of his boot.

However, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha could not believe what he was seeing from the Hammers’ defence, feeling that they just did not get anywhere close enough to Jackson.

Speaking on BBC’s Final Score, with his words then being shared by BBC Sport, Onuoha said: “Nicolas Jackson has not been contested at all. Questions will be asked and Julen Lopetegui at half-time will have a few words to say to his team.”

Jackson surpassed Olivier Giroud’s goal record for Chelsea in the Premier League with his brace at the London Stadium.

Jackson needs to finish like that all of the time

Both of Jackson’s finishes against West Ham were well taken. The aim for him now is to finish like that on a more consistent basis.

“His finishing needs to be much better,” John Obi Mikel said about Jackson before the game.

At the London Stadium, it was, and that improvement has come at a great time. The 23-year-old was in danger of losing his place in Enzo Maresca‘s starting XI.

Last weekend, Christopher Nkunku came off the bench to score the winner against Bournemouth. It gave Maresca a decision to make heading into the West Ham match.

In the end, though, the Italian went with Jackson, and his decision to do so paid off after just four minutes when the £32m Senegal international netted the first of his two goals.

If Jackson was starting to feel a bit of pressure from Nkunku, that will help ease things a bit.
