Moises Caicedo has really developed at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca, and it appears that he’s carried his form onto the international stage with Ecuador.
Enzo Maresca has made it a habit of getting the very best out of a number of players who were rather average last season, and Moises Caicedo is one of them.
The midfielder joined for a whopping £115 million last summer and is now only just starting to show why Chelsea paid so much money for him.
Gary Cahill predicted that Caicedo would turn things around and he’s being proved right, though we are only seven games into the Premier League season.
His latest display for Ecuador further supports the good spell of form Caicedo is currently enjoying, as he received praise from the national media.

Caicedo has gone from being slammed by fans to being one of the first names on the teamsheet.
The midfield partnership that Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo have going on is the stuff of dreams, but it appears as if he coped just fine away from the Argentine for Ecuador against Paraguay.
Interestingly, Kendry Paez was also in action for Ecuador, with the youngster set to officially star at Chelsea in 2025.
ESPN Deportes gave an assessment of Caicedo’s display, and only nice things were said.
“Tireless in marking, in winning duels, in recovering balls and even shot on goal when he didn’t have a teammate in a goal-scoring position.”
Romeo Lavia looking to disrupt the Enzo and Moises partnership
Interestingly, Enzo Maresca has been talking about how excited he is about the prospect of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo joining forces in the middle of midfield.
“I’m very excited thinking that soon we can have both Moi and Romeo fit 100% because I think both together playing that position they can give us a lot.
“They can compete and they can play together for sure.”
He’s not by any means suggesting that Fernandez will be dropped and won’t be a part of his plans, but this will certainly keep the Argentine on his toes.
