Chelsea star Moises Caicedo will face a late fitness check tomorrow before Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Aston Villa.

That has been confirmed by Mauricio Pochettino in this afternoon’s pre-match press conference.

Moises Caicedo, 21, returned after the international break with a problem and missed last weekend’s goalless draw with Bournemouth.

However, the midfielder could possibly be back in action on Sunday. He needs another check before Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge against Villa, though.

Chelsea’s head coach provided an update on Caicedo during Friday’s press conference.

“We need to assess Moises tomorrow. He was training in a difficult way, not with the team until today. We need to assess tomorrow and see if he can be involved on Sunday,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Chelsea’s YouTube channel.

Journalist Nathan Gissing reported via X earlier this week that Caicedo missed Chelsea’s training on Wednesday.

It’s good news to hear he’s not yet been ruled out of the Villa clash.

The Blues would hugely benefit from Caicedo in Sunday’s starting line-up, especially against a Villa side that are strong in the midfield areas.

Caicedo’s not been helped by this stop-start nature during the opening few weeks of his Chelsea career, but hopefully the injuries are behind him. Incidentally, he wasn’t injury prone at previous club Brighton and there’s an injury curse around Cobham right now.
