The futures of several Chelsea players remain uncertain ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has once again made it clear that Raheem Sterling is not part of his plans while warning the winger and the club’s other outcasts that they will not play a single minute of football if they remain at Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace aren’t interested in a deal for Sterling, but there is still time for the 29-year-old to find another club to join.

One Chelsea player who looks certain to remain in west London, though, is Benoit Badiashile.

What people close to Benoit Badiashile are saying

It does not seem like Badiashile is going to have an important role at Chelsea this season.

Maresca has gone with Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana in the Blues’ first two Premier League games, so it looks like they will be the Italian’s main centre-back pairing if the latter can stay fit.

Nevertheless, Badiashile is set to remain at Chelsea, according to journalist Bobby Vincent.

He posted on X: “People close to Benoit Badiashile inform me there is no chance of him leaving before Friday’s deadline.”

Earlier this month, it was reported that Badiashile had no intention of leaving Chelsea, and his stance does not appear to have changed.

Should Chelsea sell Benoit Badiashile if a good offer arrives for him?

Some Chelsea supporters would probably not be against it. Badiashile has not really improved their team since his £35m move from AS Monaco last year, spending a lot of time on the sidelines.

However, the fact that the 23-year-old has had some injury problems means he should be given some more opportunities to prove himself now that he is fully fit again.

Being left-footed as well, he can provide adequate cover for Colwill. If he fails to perform this season, then maybe next summer Chelsea should consider selling him.

While Badiashile is still expected to be at Stamford Bridge after Friday, another defender could depart before then. His compatriot Axel Disasi has been linked to Newcastle United.
