Chelsea have begun their 2025/26 Champions League campaign at the Allianz Arena, taking on German giants Bayern Munich.
It is Chelsea‘s first appearance in the Champions League since 2023, so a lot of fans were, understandably, very excited going into the game.
Nicolas Jackson also would have been buzzing, getting an opportunity to play against the Blues the same month he left them.
Jackson joined Bayern on a temporary deal at the end of the summer transfer window, but it is believed that his loan move will become a permanent one if he makes 40 starts this season.

Nicolas Jackson and Chelsea coaches seen hugging
Jackson was replaced by Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the summer, but there does not seem to be any bad blood between the striker and Chelsea.
That was evident to see when Jackson was seen hugging two Chelsea coaches, Danny Walker and Roberto Vitiello, before kick-off at the Allianz Arena.
Earlier in the week, Jackson was a topic of discussion for Max Eberl, Bayern’s director of sport.
Eberl said he was confident that Jackson was sharing tips on how to beat Chelsea with Vincent Kompany and the rest of the Bayern team.
The 24-year-old was not named in Kompany’s starting XI for Wednesday night’s game, but it may not be too long before he makes his first start in the Champions League for Bayern. Their next European tie is against Pafos at the end of the month.

Chelsea told they made mistake letting go of Nicolas Jackson
While Chelsea were able to sign Pedro and Delap, not everyone agreed with their decision to loan out Jackson.
When Paul Merson spoke about Jackson’s move, he said: “If I were Chelsea, I would have kept him. I don’t think he’s a bad player.”
Chelsea’s next game in the Champions League is a home tie against Benfica. It is a fixture that could see Jose Mourinho return to Stamford Bridge.
It has been reported that Mourinho is set to take over at Benfica following the dismissal of Bruno Lage.
