Exit-bound Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has been named in the Champions League Team of the Season.
Rudiger, who’s leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, will reportedly join Real Madrid on 1 July on a free transfer.
Spanish giants Madrid are fresh from an incredible season, winning both La Liga and the Champions League this year.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side beat Liverpool 1-0 in the weekend’s European final. Also, they got past Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain during the knockout stages to thoroughly earn the trophy.

Champions League Team of the Season
Chelsea’s defence of the Champions League ended in the quarter finals to eventual winners Madrid, who ended up winning the tie at the Bernabeu in extra time.
Blues centre-back Rudiger, who earns £100,000-a-week, is the sole representative for Thomas Tuchel’s side in the line-up.
Elsewhere, Madrid quartet Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric, Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema are in UEFA’s side.
Runners-up Liverpool have Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Fabinho included.
Finally, Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe complete the 2021/22 Team of the Season.
How to replace Rudiger?
For certain, replacing Rudiger in the Chelsea squad is the biggest challenge the Blues face when entering the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old’s aggression, pace and power in defence makes him one of the world’s very best centre-halves right now.
Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde is reportedly being lined up to be the first signing of the Todd Boehly era, so he should bring some extra quality to the defensive ranks.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Presenel Kimpembe is someone Chelsea boss Tuchel reportedly wants to sign, too.
