Journalist David Ornstein has now claimed that there is a chance Chelsea make a big sale in the final week of the transfer window.

He told Sky Sports News that it would be impossible right now to rule out the Blues selling Conor Gallagher this month despite January approaching its conclusion in the coming days.

Gallagher is reportedly still up for sale for the right price this month, in a move that would surprise a lot of people watching Chelsea play every week.

This is because the 23-year-old has been a near ever-present for the Blues this season, and one of Mauricio Pochettino’s favourite players since taking over.

However, it was interesting to see that he did not start in the club’s biggest game of the season earlier this week against Middlesbrough as they booked their place in the EFL Cup final.

Potentially off the back of this, Ornstein has now claimed that there is a chance he still moves on this season.

Gallagher could still be sold

He said: “I wouldn’t rule out that we could see something develop with Conor Gallagher We know that if suitable offers arrive then they will definitely consider it.

“Tottenham definitely like him, and if they were to shift somebody like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, that frees up some funds. “It could yet provide us with a major story. I’m not saying it’s gonna happen but… that’s plausible.”

Any big sale in the final week of January would be extremely tough for the manager to deal with, especially as it looks as if there are going to be no big players coming through the door.

Despite not featuring earlier this week, Gallagher still has a big role to play this season, and will likely be named in the starting side to take on Liverpool in the EFL Cup final next month.
