Given the quality of first team players Chelsea have available, it is no surprise that a large portion of their squad have been selected to represent their countries in the international break.
A number of those though have already returned to Cobham due to injury issues they are struggling with.
Malo Gusto withdrew from France U21 duty, while Cole Palmer has also come back due to an ongoing issue there is hope won’t keep him out of any Premier League games.
The spots opening up in the first team’s training squad will provide an opportunity for a number of players who are yet to feature under Enzo Maresca in the Premier League to prove they should have more involvement this season.
One of those is Carney Chukwuemeka, who was also hardly involved in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

However, pictures on the club’s ‘5th Stand’ app have shown the 20-year-old involved with the rest of the first team, with Maresca also pictured getting involved in things.
Chukwuemeka has struggled to make regular appearances since his £20m move from Aston Villa for a number of reasons. He has unfortunately suffered a range of injuries during his two year spell at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea surprised Chukwuemeka didn’t leave this summer
Chelsea were reportedly shocked Chukwuemeka didn’t leave the club on loan this summer, with a loan deal being discussed for much of the transfer window.
Manchester United were looking at the deal on deadline day, however nothing went through there despite the Blues bringing in Jadon Sancho.
Chukwuemeka now has a good chance of getting himself involved in some capacity for the next Premier League game against Bournemouth, with injuries beginning to affect the squad.
Romeo Lavia is hoping to be fit, however there are no certainties over whether Palmer will be in a place that he can start next weekend.
