22-year-old Chelsea player was pleading with Mauricio Pochettino to change the system against Tottenham

Journalist Rahman Osman has claimed that Enzo Fernandez was pleading with his manager last night to change the Chelsea system.

He took to Twitter to state that Mauricio Pochettino was not seeming to budge on his tactics despite the Blues being overrun early in the game by Tottenham.

Fernandez was one of those who endured a slow start as Spurs took the lead in the opening few minutes at home.

However, they seemed to lose themselves with the occasion and allow the Blues back into the game when they really didn’t need to.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie saw red either side of half-time, and after a lot of huffing and puffing, it eventually finished 4-1 to Chelsea.

After the two red cards and five disallowed goals to go with the five actual goals, a mental evening in North London will see the beginning forgotten by most.

Fernandez spoke to Pochettino about tactics

Meanwhile, there will be some concerns in the Chelsea camp over the start they made when it was 11v11.

This is why Osman claimed that Fernandez went over to the manager to see if he could change anything in the first half.

He said: “Enzo Fernandez telling the bench to try and change the system as they are getting overturned in midfield. Poch doesn’t seem to get the message. Now speaking to James.”

Fernandez was eventually taken off early in the second half as Pochettino made the decision to move Cole Palmer into a more central role to try and create chances.

This definitely affected the game, with the former Manchester City man setting up one of the three late Nicolas Jackson goals that secured all three points for the Blues away from home at a side who were unbeaten up until that point.
