Chelsea saw more than 40 players depart the club during the summer transfer window either permanently or on loan.

Even after their own window shut, they were still keen for players to move on. David Datro Fofana has since been loaned out to Turkey.

With the big spending the club completed for the likes of Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, they needed to sell well in order to comply with PSR rules.

This saw them part ways with a number of top players, with many still upset that Conor Gallagher was one of those who was sacrificed.

However, the same cannot be said about the departure of Romelu Lukaku, with him finally moving on a permanent basis to Napoli.

Romelu Lukaku in Serie A Team of the Week

Working under Antonio Conte again, the Belgian is off to a fine start to life back in Italian football.

WhoScored have named Lukaku in their statistical Team of the Week for past gameweek in Serie A off the back of another goal in their 4-0 win over Cagilari.

Chelsea wanted Victor Osimhen

Chelsea and Napoli were also in talks over a potential move the other way for Victor Osimhen, with the two players seemingly in for a like-to-like swap as far as the position they can play and the importance they would have on their new club.

The Blues were in discussions over signing the Nigerian international until the final hours of the window, however decided in the last moments to walk away from the potential deal.

They instead are looking to put their faith in Nicolas Jackson for the next few months at least, with him starting every game up front so far this season.

Enzo Maresca has also got the option of Christopher Nkunku to feature in that role, with Chelsea still looking to find a position for him in their starting side going forwards.
