The magnitude of quality that Chelsea have in their first team squad has made it so that some seriously talented players are not getting the gametime they would have liked.

Reports have already began to surface that some of those who have been forced to fight for minutes in the cup competitions are unhappy with their gametime.

Christopher Nkunku is reportedly frustrated at his minutes he is getting right now. It is clear that he did not join to make just one Premier League start at this stage of the season.

Some individuals though have not been even offered the chances of starting in the Conference League though despite being admired from afar.

Carney Chukwuemeka wants to stay in London if he leaves Chelsea

Carney Chukwuemeka has played just 49 minutes across three appearances this season, and has been subject of talk of a move away.

Ipswich Town are reportedly keen on a move for Chukwuemeka, however recent claims may suggest this move is not too high on his list of priorities.

Simon Phillips said on his Substack: “We are unsure at this point whether Carney would even be interested in dropping to the championship and if anything would even be possible here in terms of the money needed to make it happen, but a chance of a Lampard link-up would surely appeal to the midfielder.

“This is more a speculative part of this story because I don’t think for one second it would happen. But I do know Carney ideally wants to stay in England, however, London is his preference.”

Why Chukwuemeka should be annoyed with Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca hinted after the transfer window shut that Chukwuemeka would be in line for more appearances after a move away was not secured for him.

This has ended up clearly not being the case, and it now looks more likely that the midfielder is seen as surplus to requirements should the right offer come in.

Chukwuemeka reportedly has a £40m release clause in his deal, which would see them double the money they spent on him in 2022.
