One reported Chelsea target looks set to stay at his current side this summer in a huge boost to his manager.

Chelsea are likely to strengthen their forward line in the upcoming transfer window as they continue to be linked with several attackers.

It is thought that Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is one name on Chelsea’s radar after his impressive campaign.

The Blues are also said to be eyeing another Premier League winger, but it looks like he could be staying where he is.

Kaoru Mitoma closing in on new deal at Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion star Kaoru Mitoma was linked to Chelsea last summer. At the time, it had been claimed that Chelsea were having internal discussions about Mitoma.

According to CaughtOffside, the Blues are still interested in the 27-year-old ahead of the next transfer window.

The same outlet claims that Brighton currently value Mitoma at around €55m (£46m) but are close to agreeing a new contract with him.

It means that the Japanese attacker is unlikely to leave the Amex Stadium at the end of the season.

Chelsea have other options, though, and not just Semenyo. It is believed that they also hold interest in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

During the January transfer window, Chelsea gave consideration to signing Garnacho, but nothing materialised in the end.

Kaoru Mitoma embarrassed Trevoh Chalobah last month

Trevoh Chalobah and the rest of Chelsea’s backline already know what Mitoma is capable of.

In Brighton’s 3-0 win against Chelsea mid-February, the Japan international scored one of the goals of the season.

There was one long ball that he managed to get under control, not allowing Chalobah to get anywhere near him before slotting past Filip Jorgensen. It is not something the Chelsea defender will want to see again.

That night, Mitoma showed what he can bring to Stamford Bridge, but a new contract would likely see him remain at the Amex.
