‘99 passing’… Noni Madueke hails Chelsea teammate after Conference League win against Servette

Chelsea star Noni Madueke hailed his teammate as an incredible passer of the football after yesterday’s win in Europe.

Chelsea are up and running in the Conference League this season by winning 2-0 at home to Servette in the first leg of a play-off tie. The Blues now travel to Switzerland next week for the second leg in firm control as they bid to reach the competition’s group stages.

Noni Madueke, 22, actually came off the bench to score his team’s second goal versus Servette.

Speaking post-match in his press conference via Football.London, Enzo Maresca insisted he wants Madueke to stay at Chelsea, despite the transfer speculation about his future in this window.

Noni Madueke’s message to Enzo Fernandez

Madueke labelled Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez a pass master after he set up his goal against Servette with a glorious assist. The 23-year-old lifted a superb through ball down the right channel into Madueke’s path, who then had the composure and class to finish on his weaker right foot.

Fernandez uploaded a post on Instagram celebrating Chelsea’s victory on Thursday evening. Madueke then reacted in the comment section: “99 passing.”

For anyone who doesn’t play EA Sports FC, a score of 99 is a maximum rating given to a footballer for their ability in that skill.

We want to see more of that from Enzo Fernandez

Fernandez has got pretty much the full catalogue of passes in his game, so we’d love to see him be more creative this season and to post some decent attacking returns.

The Argentine central midfielder underwhelmed a bit in that aspect last season.

When you look at the attacking talent in Chelsea’s ranks, especially with intelligent footballers such as Madueke, Cole Palmer, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, the midfield should have a field day spraying forward passes.

It feels like Chelsea boss Maresca is still trying to work out the right team balance in the early weeks of his reign. Our suggestion would be to get Fernandez in a No.8 position as frequently as possible, which allows him to dictate play and look for creative through balls.
