Danny Murphy was left blown away by Chelsea’s Levi Colwill after his display last night against Fulham.
It was a Monday evening full of positives for Chelsea, who recorded a 2-0 away win against rivals Fulham in the Premier League.
Levi Colwill, who’s started every league match this season, impressed yet again in defence.
The ball-playing centre-back showed his versatility again by slotting in at left-back, something regularly asked of him so far by Mauricio Pochettino.
He showed off his exquisite passing range with a chipped assist for Mykhailo Mudryk’s first ever Chelsea goal. Armando Broja got on the scoresheet just moments later in the 2-0 victory, too.
Pochettino described Colwill’s through ball assist as “amazing” in his post-match interview, as quoted by Chelsea’s YouTube account.

TalkSPORT pundit Murphy really liked the performance he saw yesterday from Colwill. In fact, he’s confident that the 20-year-old talent is one for the future.
“Levi Colwill at left-back, beautiful footballer. He’s physically good. He’s technically good. Nice passer of the ball. I know he’s not a left-back, but he’s one for the future,” Murphy told talkSPORT (9:58pm, 2 October).

We definitely still see Colwill’s long-term role in this side at the heart of defence as an authorative centre-back, but he’s doing the job asked of him by Pochettino.
Chelsea fans have still only seen a snippet this season of what the academy graduate can do with the ball at his feet.
The left-footer’s passing range should be a real weapon for this side if used properly, so we can’t wait to watch him grow at Stamford Bridge as he matures and learns.
