It may have been a boring couple of weeks for Chelsea fans during March’s international break, but the news continues to flood in at Stamford Bridge.
The one constant throughout this 2023/24 season so far has been the pile up of injuries in the squad.
We concede Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is underachieving with this set of players, but a closer look will show he’s been desperately unfortunate with injuries to key first-team names.
Now, Chelsea have been hit by the big news that one star won’t play again this season.

Chelsea confirmed via their official website yesterday that Romeo Lavia, 20, will miss the remainder of the campaign following a setback in his recovery from injury.
The young midfielder suffered a significant thigh injury back in December during his Blues debut against Crystal Palace.
He’s uploaded a post on Instagram following Tuesday’s announcement about his injury.
His post said: “Hi Chelsea family. As you may know and despite my countless efforts, I will be missing the remainder of the season. This has been a frustrating season for me, not being able to help my teammates. I love this squad, this badge and being on the pitch more than anything. Trust that I have given my all everyday to get back. Thank you for the love, support and critics because they all affect me positively and keep me going. Can’t wait to give it back and share many special moments together. See you soon.”
Chelsea teammates Benoit Badiashile and Carney Chukwuemeka both responded in the comment section by sending their support.

Romeo Lavia’s nightmare debut season
Remarkably, Lavia draws a close to his first season in Chelsea colours having played 32 minutes during only one appearance.
The Belgian midfielder missed the first half of the season following last summer’s arrival from Southampton.
It took until December for him to make his Chelsea debut, but he can’t catch a break as he was injured in that very same match.
We’re struggling to think of a debut season in west London that has gone so horribly wrong before.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed via X back in December that Pochettino has belief that Lavia can be a key player in the Chelsea side. Unfortunately, fans won’t get to see if this is true for quite a while still.
