Benoit Badiashile claims his ‘fast’ Chelsea teammate is such a great player

Chelsea are in action on Thursday in the Conference League group stages, which is likely to mean heavy rotation and a chance for some other players in the squad to remind everyone of their talent.

The pattern in cup competitions this season from Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been to shuffle his pack. It keeps his star players fit and fresh for the Premier League schedule, while it allows others the opportunity to get minutes and stay involved.

Blues centre-back Benoit Badiashile, 23, is a player whose minutes have mostly come in domestic and European cup matches this campaign. Chelsea still view Badiashile as part of their long-term plans despite him slipping down the pecking order recently.

Benoit Badiashile praises Chelsea teammate Mykhailo Mudryk

During Wednesday’s pre-match press conference for the European tie with Noah, Badiashile has spoken glowingly about Chelsea teammate Mykhailo Mudryk. Similarly, the 23-year-old winger has had to rely a lot on the cup competitions to show his quality.

Badiashile said via Chelsea’s YouTube channel: “Misha (Mudryk) is a really good player. We all know how he can be like a player, he’s a good person as well. We try to help him to give his best during every game. He’s fast so sometimes it’s hard to catch him [in training].”

Maresca could force his way into the Premier League XI with a big display against Noah because he’s looked incredibly sharp in the last few weeks.

The left-winger is fast, direct and exciting to watch when he’s on the pitch. If he can continue to tighten up his end product, there’s so much potential for him to be a big star.

Mudryk has been doing extra work on his finishing after training, which is the sort of dedication that should make fans desperate for him to succeed.

It’s too early to say that Mudryk has finally arrived at Chelsea because he’s not in the Premier League XI and you never quite know what version of him will turn up. However, there’s definitely signs that things are clicking and he can contribute in a big way under Maresca.

On paper, Mudryk fits the current Chelsea system because he’s got all the tools to thrive in 1v1 situations.

Behdad Eghbali is desperate for Mudryk to come good at Chelsea. He’s only scored eight goals in 70 games since joining the Blues in 2023, but perhaps all isn’t lost yet.
