Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has told HaytersTV that he believes Chelsea teammate Reece James is the best in the world in his position right now.

The England international was instrumental again in the Blues’ massive 3-0 win over AC Milan last night in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old scored and assisted in the second half, whilst also proving a worthy competitor for the tricky winger Rafael Leao.

While the Portugal international was certainly impressing on what could be seen as his Stamford Bridge audition, James matched him stride for stride, eventually seeing the talented winger substituted in the second half.

The occasion was a massive fixture for the club, with them having to rectify their poor start to the campaign in Europe.

Aubameyang amazed by James

Following a 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in Thomas Tuchel’s final game in charge of the club, they could only muster up a draw at home to Salzburg in Graham Potter’s first.

With the two most difficult games of the group back-to-back against the Serie A champions, the 3-0 victory is the perfect way to start, with James at the heart of the emphatic performance.

Aubameyang, who also found the net earlier in the game, has heaped praise on his Blues teammate, going as far to claim that he is performing to the level of the best in the world.

He said: “For me he’s the best in the world at the moment. He’s doing an amazing job. A goal and assist today, he’s on top form.”

James’ performance has brought plaudits from all corners of the media, as he continues to stake his claim for a starting place at the World Cup next month.

In a week where Trent Alexander-Arnold reminded everyone of his qualities against Rangers, the Chelsea man responded with his own player of the match display on the big stage.
