Conor Gallagher has his mind set on staying at Chelsea despite a lot of Premier League interest.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk.

They claim that Chelsea will re-enter contract talks with Conor Gallagher before the end of the year.

It is understood that the 23-year-old star is more certain than ever that he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and be a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s project moving forward. Apparently, he’s emotionally attached and convinced about his future.

The report explains that Chelsea head coach Pochettino wants to keep the box-to-box midfielder in his ranks, but uncertainty remains over his future because club officials still need to see value in him.

TEAMtalk says that Robert De Zerbi’s Brighton side have been closely monitoring Gallagher ahead of a potential transfer pursuit in 2024.

In addition, Premier League rivals Tottenham, West Ham and Newcastle United are also eyeing a swoop for the England international.

We’re not surprised to hear a long list of interest from domestic rivals due to Gallagher’s impressive start to the 2023/24 campaign.

In our view, the Blues should trust Pochettino’s judgement by extending Gallagher’s deal, which is currently due to expire in 2025.

Another great indicator is that Brighton’s transfer recruitment has been exquisite in previous years, so the fact Gallagher’s on their radar says a lot.

Speaking via the Daily Mirror last week, Gallagher admitted that he’s loving proving people wrong this year.

The Blues academy graduate has started every league game this season following Pochettino’s arrival in the summer. We doubt too many fans would’ve predicted that before a ball was kicked.

He’s bringing a lot to the current Chelsea line-up with his quality work both in and out of possession. If he can just find his shooting boots, we’re looking at a really complete midfielder.

Chelsea have ended up losing a lot of their Cobham talents in the past couple of years, but there can still be a fantastic core running through the first team with Gallagher, Levi Colwill and Reece James.

Hopefully, Gallagher’s contract situation is wrapped up smoothly and quickly to get rid of the uncertainty around him.
