Chelsea will feel as if their squad is not far away from being able to seriously compete for the top honours in English football.
Enzo Maresca has led his side to third in the Premier League already, just a point behind Manchester City in his first campaign in the top flight.
The Blues made a number of signings over the summer to get their squad in the best possible shape for a new season. Pedro Neto has already been described as the signing of the season.
It feels as if they will only make a move for a new player in January if the right opportunity comes up to really strengthen their lineup.
One player who would certainly achieve this is Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting Lisbon, as he enjoys a superb goalscoring season.

Chelsea want Viktor Gyokeres in January
Chelsea should no doubt be very pleased with the output of their two strikers so far this season. Nicolas Jackson found the net again in superb fashion against Leicester City at the weekend.
However, according to Record Portugal, the Blues are prepared to pay up to £75m for the striker in January.
They go on to say that the idea would be for him to not actually join up with the squad until the end of the season, with him being loaned back to Sporting until the end of the campaign.
The striker will be in action in the Champions League against Arsenal this week, with David Raya describing the Swede as a ‘top player’.
Viktor Gyokeres’ incredible 2024/25 stats
In just 19 games in all competitions this season, Gyokeres has comfortably more goals than appearances, with five goals in four Champions League games too.
| Viktor Gyokeres stats 2024/25 | Games | Goals | Assists |
| Liga Portugal | 11 | 16 | 1 |
| Champions League | 4 | 5 | 0 |
| Taca de Portugal | 2 | 1 | 1 |
| Allianz Cup | 1 | 2 | 0 |
| Supertaca | 1 | 0 | 2 |
He has undoubtedly played the best football of his career under current Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, and is now making his mark on the international stage too.
The Sweden international scored five goals in the recent break, and is no doubt on the radar of a number of top sides.
A move to sign him could come in response to Nkunku being unhappy with his minutes at Stamford Bridge, as he struggles to displace Jackson from the Premier League side.
