Chelsea’s staff will no doubt have been busy this season keeping an eye on all of the players they currently have out on loan.

A number of those individuals have more of a chance of being involved in the future of the club than others. There has already been talk of attempts to make Raheem Sterling’s move to Arsenal permanent.

However, some are more than showing their credentials. Andrey Santos was even named Strasbourg captain as a mark of his brilliant campaign so far.

It is the younger core who have the highest ceiling at the moment, and Aaron Anselmino has certainly been courted for a big future at the club despite not yet officially joining the club.

Chelsea to recall Aaron Anselmino in January

The plan was originally for the young defender to join at the end of the season, however his playing time in 2024 has come to an end due to an injury.

Now, according to Ole, the Blues are looking at bringing him in as early as January in order to get him up to speed as soon as possible.

They said: “The 19-year-old defender will not play with Boca again for the rest of the year due to his hamstring tear in his left leg When it seemed that Anselmino was going to stay at Boca until June next year, now this situation is at risk, in danger, closer to no.

“In fact, the version that is gaining strength is that, taking into account the injuries that the defender suffered during this time, the intention of the English Club would be to execute the buy-out that he now has under contract in December and begin to prepare him in England for his debut in the Premier League.”

Anselmino’s impressive stats for Boca Juniors

Despite being just 19, Anselmino has established himself as a regular in the starting side for Boca Juniors.

The Chelsea centre-backs have remained pretty consistent this season under Enzo Maresca. Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana have been seen as the strongest pairing in the Premier League.

However, the drop off below them is a bit larger than the club would like, and a player with the promise of Anselmino could quickly raise the levels of the position and competition for starting spots.
