Journalist Ben Jacobs has now claimed that Chelsea could now jump at the chance to sign one player ahead of their big Premier League rivals.
He told ‘Last Word on Spurs’ that the Blues are the club who could hijack the move that Tottenham are trying to make to sign Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge.
Nusa has been linked with a move away from Belgium this month after impressing a number of elite clubs with his performances this season.

His play on the wing has already seen him described as ‘fearless’, and has been the subject of interest from Chelsea before.
The player himself made it clear that he was stunned how much the Blues had bid for him, however he stayed put for now.
Spurs are reportedly preparing to make their move, which Jacobs has now claimed could spring Chelsea into life for a deal.
Chelsea could hijack Nusa deal
He said: “Chelsea are the ones to watch because Chelsea came quite close to signing Nusa towards the back end of the summer but if Chelsea buy they, again, would like to now.
“So it is quite clever by Spurs to be saying to Brugge we’ll do this on your terms if we can get it over the line financially, we’re not fussed if we don’t have him to play for us in the month of January what we’re looking for is to secure him for the summer and if they can do that you might find that a Chelsea say we’re not going to bother reigniting our interest because we can’t get him right now.”
The Blues should really be prioritising signing players this month who can come into the side and make an immediate impact.
However, with their being just a week left of the window, it looks as if any top deal is not going to be possible in January.
