Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Chelsea board have decided that Julian Nagelsmann is the perfect manager to take the vacant job.
He told the ‘House of Champions’ podcast that he has been given indications that the former Bayern Munich manager is the favourite for the role, and is tempted by the project at Stamford Bridge.
Defeat to Aston Villa was the final straw for the Blues, who yesterday announced the sacking of Graham Potter.

Todd Boehly in particular had backed the Englishman, but seeing his side drop into the bottom half of the table was too much to continue his defence.
This has set the wheels in motion for the club’s second recruitment process of the season, with many names being linked at this early stage.
Having recently being sacked himself, it’s not surprising to see Nagelsmann strongly linked with the role.
Romano has now claimed that the club believe the German is the best man for the job, and will try and recruit him soon.
Nagelsmann tempted as ‘perfect’ candidate
He said: “On Saturday night I had the indication, Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite to get the Chelsea job. The favourite means that he’s really appreciated internally at Chelsea. We know that the technical director Christopher Vivell knows very well Julian Nagelsmann, so he’s a big fan of his ideas and methods.
“But not just Vivell. I’m told other people on the board are big fans of Nagelsmann, who is considered the perfect manager for the Chelsea job. But we also know that Chelsea is not just about one single person. There is Todd Boehly and all the directors, there is five, six, seven people deciding all together for the new coach.
“It’s important to understand what is going to happen on Nagelsmann side because he wanted to wait a little bit but Chelsea is tempting him.

“Let me mention at the moment Chelsea have not contacted Bayern, because he is still under contract with Bayern, until June 2026 so in case they want to continue with Nagelsmann they have to contact Bayern and find an agreement. There is still not direct club to club contact.”
A number of other candidates have also been linked with the job, which is set to see a thorough interview process.
Mauricio Pochettino, who was linked with the job when Thomas Tuchel, is likely to be in consideration again.
