Chelsea have confirmed that Robert Sanchez has been training this week ahead of Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Liverpool.
The Blues squad are now gearing towards the weekend’s trip to Wembley Stadium, where the Carabao Cup trophy is up for grabs when Chelsea face Liverpool in a repeat of the 2022 final.
So, who will the starting goalkeeper for Mauricio Pochettino’s side?

Robert Sanchez, 26, hasn’t played since December because of a knee injury. It’s worth remembering that he was the first-choice goalkeeper at Chelsea before that.
As a result, 24-year-old gloveman Djordje Petrovic has impressed since covering for the Blues as the starting keeper.
Despite returning to fitness last week, Pochettino confirmed that Sanchez was missing from Chelsea’s weekend draw with Manchester City because of a “personal problem”.
Thankfully, it’s been confirmed the Spanish shot-stopper is back with the group and training ahead of the cup final. Of course, we hope everything is okay in Sanchez’s private life.
Robert Sanchez training for Chelsea
Chelsea confirmed via their official website yesterday that Sanchez trained as part of Chelsea’s group at Cobham.
So, all eyes will be on the starting XI against Liverpool.
Speaking via The Daily Mail in October, Pochettino described Sanchez as “great”. However, we feel like Petrovic has managed to surpass his levels in the last couple of months.
Our suggestion is stick with the in-form Petrovic that is playing well going into the cauldron of a cup final. We’d give the Serbian keeper the number one status for the rest of the season, too!
Liverpool are flying high in the league and pose such an attacking threat, so we may need a big performance in-between the stick for Chelsea this weekend to win silverware.
