Chelsea supporters have been reacting to Tuesday’s breaking reports that Thomas Tuchel is the frontrunner to become the new England manager.
Thomas Tuchel, who managed at Stamford Bridge between January 2021 and September 2022, is certainly a high-profile coach.
The 51-year-old German is adored by Chelsea fans for guiding the club to their second ever Champions League triumph. On top of that, he’s had a quite fantastic managerial career so far at some gigantic European clubs.
| Club | Matches | Won | Draw | Loss | Points per match |
| Bayern Munich | 61 | 37 | 8 | 16 | 1.95 |
| Chelsea | 100 | 63 | 19 | 18 | 2.08 |
| Paris Saint-Germain | 127 | 96 | 11 | 20 | 2.35 |
| Borussia Dortmund | 107 | 69 | 20 | 18 | 2.12 |
| Mainz | 183 | 72 | 45 | 66 | 1.43 |
Tuchel is now being linked with his first ever role in international management.
Journalist Nizaar Kinsella told BBC Sport back in July that Tuchel considered himself an outsider for the England position, which is currently being held by interim boss Lee Carsley in the aftermath of Gareth Southgate’s exit.
Now, there’s fresh speculation today that suggests the former Chelsea boss is right in contention.

Thomas Tuchel in pole position for England
Sky Sports claimed on Tuesday afternoon that the FA are currently in discussions with the representatives of Tuchel about him becoming the next England manager.
It is explained that the FA has accelerated their search in recent days for Southgate’s permanent successor.
The report mentions that there was an initial enquiry to Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, but there’s been no further developments on that front.
Instead, the FA now views Tuchel as their primary choice, and he could be appointed quickly if negotiations progress well. The German tactician is deemed in ‘pole position’ to become England’s next manager.
Chelsea fans give verdict on Thomas Tuchel rumours
A selection Chelsea supporters on social media agree that England will be making a fine appointment if they get Tuchel onboard. In particular, many feel like the national side will have a great chance of winning silverware with the German coach at the helm.
Here are Blues fans on X discussing the Tuchel update:
@KCknowsball wrote: “It might finally be coming home.”
@CFCLamps_ posted: “England gonna win it all now.”
@CFCLINO1 shared: “Tuchel will be a better candidate than Pep [Guardiola] for the England job, Tuchel is a kind of a cup games manager than Pep.”
@VRob06_ said: “Would say no to a non-English manager but Tuchel is an exception.”
@Gregory_Onye commented: “Honestly if Tuchel is made manager i’d have to somehow make it to games at the next world cup. A Chelsea legend delivering the World Cup would be incredible.”
If Tuchel does become the next Three Lions boss, he’ll be just the third non-English manager of the men’s England team after Sven-Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello.
