A player who has started the majority of games over the last two seasons at Chelsea is now being linked with a move to one of their biggest Premier League rivals.
According to Nizaar Kinsella, Manchester United have opened up talks with Nicolas Jackson’s agent to discuss a possible switch to Old Trafford.
It has become clear that the Senegal international is facing a real battle to be the starting striker at Stamford Bridge next season, following the additions and instant impacts of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
Jackson didn’t come off the bench during the Club World Cup final, which was perhaps the biggest sign yet that manager Enzo Maresca is beginning to look another way with his attacking options.
While reports have claimed Maresca does not want to sell Jackson, Chelsea’s willingness to do business at the right price could see him become open for a sale.

Chelsea fans firmly against selling Nicolas Jackson to Manchester United
Despite not enjoying his best run of form, Chelsea fans have taken to social media to say it would be a bad idea to sell the 24-year-old to United this summer.
One user said: “How does anyone think selling Jackson to Man Utd is a good idea. Jackson does more than what a usual striker does, he links up play and offers a bit more freedom to other attackers. His output might not improve but he will naturally improve the others around him. Keep or sell outside of England.”
Another added: “I don’t know if it’s just me but I’m not the biggest fan of selling Jackson to Manchester United.”
A third claimed: “Funny enough I can see him thriving at United, if they play runners around him because of his link up play. Doesn’t matter because Manchester United can’t afford him.”
Another user stated: “Even Jackson’s harshest critics cannot seriously contend this would be acceptable business.”
Finally, one user said: “Please, Chelsea, do NOT sell Nicolas Jackson to Manchester United.”
How Nicolas Jackson feels about Chelsea future
It is fair to say that Jackson’s most recent appearances have not done him any favours in the eyes of the manager. He was sent off twice in his last few games, which contributed to their only two defeats in the last 15 games.
However, it has been reported that he is still hungry to succeed at Chelsea, despite the setback of at least two new players competing for his role in the side.
It has been said that Jackson believes he will be back to his best next season, and it is hard to argue with his abilities when he is at that level.
The Blues would ask for a high price to permanently part ways with the striker, and it doesn’t feel likely at this stage that United would be prepared to spend that fee on him.
