With less than three weeks to go of the summer transfer window, it looks as if Chelsea have thrown themselves into what will be the biggest story of August.

Last night saw them linked with the return of Joao Felix to Stamford Bridge, as ongoing negotiations with Atletico Madrid have moved to a different target.

Originally, the Blues were set to sign Samu Omorodion, however this deal collapsed at the final moments.

This therefore threw the move for Conor Gallagher to Spain in doubt, something the club are really keen to confirm as he enters the final year of his contract at Chelsea.

With Atletico needing a player sale, talk of Felix being on the move cropped up, and the Blues are certainly interested in a deal.

Chelsea fans not convinced on Joao Felix deal

His time in West London before was certainly divisive, and Chelsea supporters are currently not too convinced the deal is best for what they need right now.

One user said: “You’re allowed to like Joao Felix as a player, but can anyone tell me that they actually see a coherent plan being enacted here?”

Another added: “Looking forward to the mental gymnastics of how Joao Felix fits the wage structure but… Michael Olise doesn’t.”

A third claimed: “In case you need reminding: João Felix picked up more red cards (1) than made assists in a Chelsea Shirt, in the 6 months he was here on loan.”

Another stated: “I don’t believe we really need Joao Felix. He’s poor off the ball – Can’t track back, press or defend His end product doesn’t really make up for it either. I was glad we didn’t sign him the last time, and I don’t know how to feel about this right now. Not sure he’s the winger we need.”

Finally, one user said: “Joao Felix is not good enough for Atletico Madrid but they think Chelsea is where they can bin him whilst they got our important player easily. We’ve been clowned.”

Questions over where Felix would play for Chelsea

There are no doubts that Felix’s previous time at the club was marred by the fact they were in one of their worst moments in their recent history under both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

The question would certainly arise where the Portugal international would feature for the new-look Chelsea side, with his favoured position looking to clash with the likes of Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku.

It remains to be seen how this whole scenario plays out, however it looks like the Blues are going to be busy for the rest of the transfer window as they look to get their various pieces of business over the line.
