Former Chelsea star Christian Pulisic made his mark in just 45 minutes of the United States’ World Cup opening game, leaving Blues fans reminiscent of the quality they used to have at their disposal.

USA won 4-1 against Paraguay, and American media were full of praise for Pulisic for his performance before being replaced as a precaution.

Mauricio Pochettino made the decision to replace him, although it didn’t have too much of an effect as his side sent out a dominant message to the rest of Group D.

Chelsea fans slam BlueCo as Christian Pulisic stars at World Cup

The winger’s stock has risen since he left Chelsea back in 2023, and Blues supporters have been quick to point out the quality of the player they let go.

Plenty of fans have taken to social media to question why the club let him go, and why they haven’t replaced him with anyone better since then.

One user said: “Pulisic has always been a baller icl. His dribbling and directness is good, always been a decent finisher too.”

Another added: “Christian Pulisic would truly be Chelsea’s best LW right now and I don’t even rate him much.”

A third stated: “Chelsea sold Pulisic to AC Milan for £20m in 2023, then went on to sign these: Garnacho £40m Felix £42m Gittens £50m Nkunku £52m Sterling £48m Mudryk £89m 3 years gone & £320m spent, not one successful upgrade.”

Another claimed: “On his day, Pulisic is Hazard-esque. Unstoppable acceleration and close control dribbling.”

Finally, one user said: “Pulisic wasn’t elite for Chelsea but he was very decent. Look how he’s still moving now compared to Garnacho and Gittens.

Chelsea seeking a new winger this summer

It has been clear that the attacking output has not been good enough for Chelsea’s attackers recently, and they are looking to address this in the transfer market.

It has been reported that the Blues are looking to add a versatile attacker to their side, with Morgan Rogers emerging as a key target.

They are reportedly ready to bid £90m to sign Rogers, although his attention will currently be on England’s efforts at the World Cup.
