Chelsea fans not impressed as £60m transfer target ‘goes missing’ in latest outing

It is fair to say that Chelsea fans were not too impressed with how one reported transfer target played in his last outing.

It was a good matchweek for Chelsea, who moved to just a point behind Manchester City following their 2-1 win against Leicester City.

Nicolas Jackson scored on the day to help his side secure the victory. Another Premier League striker, however, was not as successful.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak failed to find the back of the net on Monday as the Magpies went on to lose 2-0 against West Ham United.

Chelsea fans react to Alexander Isak’s performance against West Ham

It has been claimed that Chelsea have made enquiries about Isak ahead of the new year.

Understandably, then, with the club seemingly interested in the 25-year-old, Chelsea supporters had their eyes on him during Newcastle’s clash against West Ham.

Isak, though, clearly did not make a good impression on them as his side fell to defeat.

One Chelsea fan on X, @CFC1an, wrote: “I seem to remember a Nicolas Jackson brace and an assist against this West Ham side, but £115m ‘Alexander Isak’ has gone missing. The Jackson disrespect is unbelievable.”

@CFC_Abshir said: “Isak has been very stinky this season… just took a peep out my window to see if my Mercedes-Benz A-Class (Nico Jackson) was still outside.”

While Isak could not score on Monday, he has actually netted twice against Chelsea this season.

How much could Alexander Isak cost Chelsea?

Newcastle paid Real Sociedad £60m to sign Isak back in the 2022 summer transfer window.

If Chelsea want to bring the Swede to Stamford Bridge, then they could have to pay around double that, with it being rumoured that Newcastle will only entertain offers starting from £115m.

At that price, it is hard to imagine a transfer taking place, especially with the form that Jackson is in.

Someone like Viktor Gyokeres, for example, seems way more likely. He has a €100m (£83.6m) release clause in his contract and there has been talk that Sporting Lisbon may even be willing to let him go for lower than that next summer.

As the 26-year-old continues to tear up Portuguese football, that seems like a much better deal than spending £115m on Isak.
