Troy Deeney thinks Chelsea could sign £60m Premier League star

Troy Deeney believes there’s a chance that a Premier League striker ends up at Chelsea in his career.

Chelsea have been through so many different forwards in the 21st century, including some high-profile No.9s that have flopped in west London.

Currently, the Blues have Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku as their two main attackers. In fairness, the duo have already scored a combined total of 16 goals across all competitions this season.

Rio Ferdinand believes Chelsea’s Jackson is unfairly criticised when it comes to the media’s perception of him.

Despite success for Jackson and Nkunku, Enzo Maresca’s side are still linked in the transfer rumour mill with various different strikers.

Troy Deeney tips Alexander Isak to join Chelsea

Former Premier League star Troy Deeney has predicted that Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak could join Chelsea.

He wouldn’t be surprised if the 25-year-old centre-forward ends up leaving St James’ Park and moving to Stamford Bridge.

When discussing Newcastle’s Isak on talkSPORT, Deeney said: “He’s a finisher. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea get him.

“But they’ve spent a lot of money on everyone basically. So I don’t know if they would go again, but Isak is a proper finisher.”

Chelsea and Arsenal are both eyeing Newcastle’s Isak as a potential transfer target. Apparently, the Sweden international could look to leave the Toon if his side fails to qualify for European football this season.

Paul Merson urged Chelsea to break the bank for Isak in the summer, but he’s stayed loyal to Newcastle for now.

Alexander Isak record at Newcastle

Isak has been a major success for Eddie Howe’s side since he joined from Real Sociedad in a £60m deal (BBC) back in the summer of 2022.

Here is a look at how the mobile centre-forward has performed in Newcastle colours:

It’s a very respectable record of 40 goals in 78 games for the Magpies, which is why it’s no surprise to see him linked with a potential big transfer. At the age of 25, he should soon be entering his prime years as well.
