What Chelsea now need to do to sign Alexander Isak after making multiple enquiries

Despite the form of Nicolas Jackson this season, Chelsea still look to have an interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Alexander Isak was linked with a move to west London during the summer. In fact, at one point, it was being reported that Chelsea were willing to swap Jackson for Isak.

In the end, Jackson remained at Chelsea and has been one of their best players this term. In 12 Premier League appearances, he has scored seven goals.

Yet talk of interest in Isak refuses to go away, though a deal looks like it will be extremely tricky.

Chelsea could have to smash transfer record to sign Alexander Isak

Moises Caicedo is currently the most expensive signing in Chelsea’s history, with the Blues signing him from Brighton & Hove Albion in a £115m deal last year.

If the club want to bring Isak to Stamford Bridge, then they may have to pay more than that.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are interested in the 25-year-old and have made enquiries, but Newcastle are determined to start the bidding at £115m.

It is unlikely that the Blues will pay that, especially if Jackson continues to score. But former Premier League striker Troy Deeney isn’t ruling out Chelsea signing Isak.

Alexander Isak’s record against Chelsea

It would be good if Chelsea did manage to sign Isak. That is one Premier League forward they would no longer have to worry about.

The Swede has already scored against Chelsea twice this season and has a very good record overall.

Again, though, £115m is a lot of money to spend. And if Jackson keeps on scoring, then the club will not need to bring in a high-profile centre-forward.

Instead, signing a young player who is willing to deputise for the 23-year-old would be more logical.

Joe Shields is a fan of Liam Delap, so the Ipswich Town striker could be an option for Chelsea if that is the route that they want to go down instead of forking out on a big-name No.9 like Isak.
