Chelsea fans now want Enzo Maresca to change £54m player’s position in the starting XI

Enzo Maresca has so far done a good job of managing a squad that has plenty of quality options in multiple positions.

The attack in particular is an area that is stacked with talent, with the strength in depth part of the reason they were able to take all three points from their recent game against Bournemouth.

Maresca was able to call upon the talents of Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku off the bench on the South Coast, and it was that duo who combined for the late goal scored by the Frenchman.

The Blues started with Noni Madueke on the right-wing following his excellent start to the campaign, and new signing Pedro Neto on the opposite side.

They were both replaced either at half-time or just after, with the £54m summer signing in particular still looking to reach his highest level in a Chelsea shirt.

Chelsea fans want Pedro Neto to start right wing

Supporters have taken to Twitter to claim that Neto would be better off starting on the right wing rather than the left.

One user said: “Can we finally just start playing Neto on the right now that Sancho is here?”

Another replied: “I don’t get why that didn’t happen straight away! He’s a menace on that wing and it allows him to cut it back.”

A third added: “Exactly, that’s his wing and where we can see his best performance.”

Another said: “Pedro Neto is More Lethal on the Right Wing than the Left. He’s one of the most lethal, creative wingers in the league. Playing him on the RW makes him an even more dangerous goal threat, increasing his dynamism without limiting his crossing ability or creativity.

“This makes him more unpredictable, as he can stay wide, use his right foot to drive towards the byline and deliver cutbacks into the box. However, he becomes even more dangerous when cutting in onto his left foot, where he can either cross with precision or shoot at goal from a favourable angle with his stronger foot.

“Bringing him closer to goal, allowing him to inflict more damage on the opponent’s defence, especially against midblocks or low blocks.”

Finally, one user said: “To me this is our best lineup with Neto on the right Madueke can start from the bench what are your thoughts.”

Madueke’s great start under Maresca saw him rewarded with a call up to the England side, where he impressed on his debut off the bench.

Worrying times for Mykhailo Mudryk

One of the biggest strengths of the addition of Neto though was his ability to play on both sides of the attack, and the manager should look to utilise that in the upcoming games.

Sancho proved off the bench that when fit he has the ability to start on the left when fully fit, and all of this could mean one option is falling even further down the pecking order.

Mykhailo Mudryk’s place in the side now looks hard to come by, with talk continuing that he could be on the move when the transfer window opens again.
