Chelsea supporters were keeping a close eye on the performance of Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho in the Europa League last night because he’s the centre of an ongoing transfer rumour.
Even though Chelsea already own several high-profile wide players, they’re linked with a move this month for Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Chelsea are lining up an opening bid for Garnacho, who’s valued at over £50m by Man Utd. Apparently, the Blues may get a clear path to the 20-year-old attacker because suitors Napoli are now looking elsewhere.
Garnacho played 90 minutes as Man Utd recorded a late 2-1 victory at home to Rangers in the Europa League group stages.
There may be speculation about the left-winger’s future right now, but Rio Ferdinand shared via X that Garnacho’s name was being sung by the home fans inside Old Trafford in midweek.

Chelsea fans make same observation about Alejandro Garnacho’s display vs Rangers
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media were actually quite impressed by Man Utd forward Garnacho after watching his individual performance in Europe.
Despite failing to score or assist, Blues fans on X noticed that the young attacker has a hunger to get plenty of shots off at goal
One supporter posted: “At least Garnacho isn’t afraid to shoot I guess?”
“Garnacho is a serious serious shoot creator/taker,” another wrote.
One fan posted: “What I like about him is that he always looks to shoot, for sure he doesn’t have a world class accuracy but he keeps pulling the trigger. Only Noni Madueke does it in our squad. Jadon Sancho & Pedro Neto are more of the providers than attackers.”
“He plays like this every game. Our players do not shoot enough. Garnacho has attitude, is direct, is very fast, and makes defences nervous. I love the player,” another said.
One fan claimed: “The fact Garnacho actually takes shots no matter if he misses then he goes again.. we have zero attackers other than Cole Palmer that shoots with conviction.”
When asked about the Garnacho speculation, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca insisted his side don’t need more wingers. However, let’s wait and see if there’s any movement before the transfer window closes on 3 February.

Alejandro Garnacho performance vs Rangers
Without a doubt, Garnacho was one of Man Utd’s standout performers in the Rangers victory. It says a lot about the temperament of the youngster that he could still perform on a big European night amid the talk around his future.
Here is a look at the Argentine attacker’s display on Thursday evening:
| Minutes played | Total shots | Shots on target | Successful dribbles | Touches in opposition box | Chances created | Was fouled | Match rating |
| 90 | 5 | 2 | 3/6 (50%) | 9 | 1 | 2 | 7.8 |
We’ll see in the coming days if Chelsea do go all out to bring Garnacho to Stamford Bridge. Even if you’re not sure about him as a player, there’s no doubt he does bring entertainment on the football pitch with his directness.
Chelsea youngster Tyrique George must be fuming with the Garnacho links because his potential arrival would surely damage his playing time. It would be interesting to see if the Man Utd winger would start over Jadon Sancho on the left wing, though.
