Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has been a surprise name linked with Chelsea this month.
During the January transfer window, which is reaching its final stages, Chelsea have been mentioned in the transfer rumour mill as a potential suitor for Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho. So, could we see the 20-year-old talent join the Blues before the January window closes?
Chelsea made an enquiry about Man Utd attacker Garnacho last week after looking at him as a possible recruit to help their forward line.
Interestingly, Jason Cundy wouldn’t mind Garnacho at Chelsea as the transfer speculation circles. In 32 games across all competitions this season, the Argentine star has scored eight goals and created five assists.

What Chelsea are ‘likely’ to do in Alejandro Garnacho pursuit
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are now lining up an opening offer for Garnacho.
Apparently, the Blues may get a ‘clear run’ at trying to sign the Man Utd forward this month because Napoli are now focusing on Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi rather than him.
The report claims that Chelsea are ‘likely’ to make their first bid for Garnacho after making contact about his situation.
It is understood that Man Utd value their player at over £50m so they’ll play hardball over his future, but there’s a belief that he could be on the move. In fact, Chelsea are viewed as his his most realistic potential destination, especially because he’d prefer them over Napoli.
On top of that, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed via X this evening that Chelsea have already spoken to Garnacho’s agents ahead of their imminent move to try sign him.
Garnacho definitely fits Chelsea’s criteria when it comes to his profile as a transfer target. Let’s wait and see if he becomes the latest rising star to make the move to West London to join Enzo Maresca’s young Blues squad.
Would Chelsea suit Alejandro Garnacho better than Manchester United?
As it stands, Garnacho is struggling for regular starts at Old Trafford under current manager Ruben Amorim. The main reason is that his preferred 3-4-2-1 system doesn’t include touchline wingers.
In contrast, Chelsea under Maresca this season are mainly operating with a 4-2-3-1 formation, which does invite the squad’s wide players to play as traditional wingers. It’s why Blues wide men Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto all suit the style.
It’s pretty obvious that Garnacho could easily slot into the Chelsea team on either flank, particularly on the left.
While we definitely rate Garnacho as a player and see huge potential, it’s baffling that the club may be about to bid for another winger when their focus should be on other areas of the pitch.
