Chelsea supporters are extremely excited about talented youngster Geovany Quenda, who’s just starred for Portugal’s Under-21s side during the international break.

Back in March, Chelsea completed the signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon. However, the 18-year-old winger will now make his move to Stamford Bridge and join up with the Blues squad until summer 2026.

The rapid attacker is continuing his development with Portuguese giants Sporting, where they’ve already got some valuable first-team experience.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca spoke personally with Quenda before the highly-rated teenager agreed to sign for the club. We’re certainly excited to see just how good he is by the time he joins next summer ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Chelsea fans predict Geovany Quenda could replace Pedro Neto next season

On Friday, Portugal’s U21s thrashed Azerbaijan’s U21s 5-0 in a one-sided international match.

Quenda scored his side’s second goal, unleashing a powerful shot on his stronger left foot that the goalkeeper couldn’t keep out. Even though he’s been called up to Portugal’s senior squad in the past, he’s with the U21s this month.

Chelsea supporters on X were blown away by Quenda’s international performance. In fact, many Blues supporters predicted that the winger could replace Pedro Neto next season when he arrives to West London.

One fan wrote: “We might have to force Pedro Neto out of the club next season to make space for Geovany Quenda, just like we did with Noni Madueke and Estevao Willian.”

“Neto has to be sent packing as soon as Quenda lands in the summer,” another said.

One supporter posted: “Geovany Quenda with a ridiculous goal today! Perfect replacement for Neto next season.”

“Quenda might actually be the end of Neto, hell he could even bench Estevao from time to time. Seems more suited to Premier League intensity,” another commented.

Quenda’s aim at Chelsea is to break into the first-team squad straight away when he arrives at the club. However, the talented wide man is likely to face huge competition when he does join.

In the current season, the Blues have Neto, Estevao Willian, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens competing for the starting positions on the wings.

Quenda, who’s been compared to Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, will be focused on his form and development this campaign at Sporting. However, it’s obvious that the Blues fanbase are already very excited about his arrival, so he’s being watched very closely.

Don’t write off Pedro Neto

It feels like Neto is a current favourite under Chelsea head coach Maresca, so we find it hard to picture he will be frozen out anytime soon.

Maresca thinks Neto is best on the right wing, where he can compete with Estevao for a starting role. However, the 25-year-old senior Portugal international has proven he can play anywhere across the frontline in the current Blues system.

Let’s not forget that Neto played an important role at Chelsea last season, scoring nine goals and creating nine assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. We would expect those numbers to increase this year during his second season with the club, too.
