Chelsea have set their staff a tough job of keeping track of the performances of their loanees this season.

The Blues have a plethora of players on loan at the moment, with some of them having more promising futures at Stamford Bridge than others.

The likes of Raheem Sterling are not expected to return to the first team setup, after Enzo Maresca made it clear that he was not part of his plans.

It is the younger players who they are likely to be paying more attention to, with some performing at a higher level than others.

One of those continuing to put in good work is Andrey Santos, who is in the midst of his second loan at Strasbourg.

Chelsea scouts watch Andrey Santos star

It looks as if the Chelsea scouts are paying close attention to the Brazilian in particular. Graeme Bailey exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that they were in attendance to watch him star against Marseille.

He said: “Keep an eye on Strasbourg as well. I know Chelsea have been watching them recently, and there’s been some good performances there. I believe they were in attendance, Chelsea, at the Marseille game, where Andrey Santos played really well.

“I’ve been told that Diego Moreira is playing really well as well. I think they’re very happy with the way Liam Rosenior’s doing things there.”

Moreira’s performances have improved greatly since he left Chelsea permanently, with him now featuring as a wing-back.

For the midfielder meanwhile, there is a lot of faith in what he can do in the future. Thiago Silva has tipped him for a ‘wonderful’ future.

Santos stated before the season began that he felt as if he was a perfect candidate to play in midfield under Enzo Maresca.

Those positions are currently nailed down by Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, although Chelsea fans will no doubt still be hoping for more from the Argentine.

There is a real opportunity for Maresca to drop the World Cup winner after the international break, with Romeo Lavia now returning to fitness following an injury early in the season.
