Chelsea’s desire to not part ways with Enzo Fernandez this summer has been handed an inadvertent boost by arch-rivals Tottenham’s latest signing.

Fernandez has made it clear he has a desire to join Real Madrid this summer, a move which would see him follow in the footsteps of former teammate Marc Cucurella.

However, Chelsea’s valuation of the midfielder has proven a stumbling block so far. The Blues want to bring in more than the fee they paid to sign Fernandez back in 2023.

Who will be a bigger success – Enzo Maresca or Xabi Alonso? 🤔

City have confirmed Maresca will replace Guardiola.

Chelsea’s valuation of Enzo Fernandez has been strengthened by Spurs deal for Mateus Fernandes

They will only feel as if their valuation has been strengthened by the prices other players in similar positions are commanding this summer. Elliot Anderson is set to move for around £116m to Manchester City.

Spurs are also in the market for a new midfielder, and reports have stated that they have agreed an £85m deal to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham.

If a player with two relegations from the Premier League to his name already is worth that fee, Chelsea should feel very confident with their valuation, and not accept any lower from any side.

The Blues will also not have to worry about his contract running out anytime soon. He signed a deal that keeps him at the club until 2032.

Xabi Alonso originally wanted to keep Fernandez in his squad, and will no doubt be buoyed that he is still at the club as he officially signs in as the manager.

What do you make of Chelsea’s interest in Maxence Lacroix?

Fernandez’s Argentina already look set for a deep run at the World Cup, meaning he will be one of the latest to join up with the squad for pre-season should he sTay.

Supporters are already intrigued as to what Alonso’s Chelsea will look like, and will be growing in confidence that it also includes Fernandez as part of it.

The Blues are keen on bringing Adam Wharton to the club as a new player in midfield, although this signing is only likely to take place should the World Cup winner depart this summer.
