Chelsea have reportedly assured one player that he is already a part of new manager Enzo Maresca’s plans for next season.
The Blues announced the Italian as their official new head coach earlier this week, after a relatively swift process took place to replace Mauricio Pochettino.
Maresca is currently away on holiday before starting officially in July, however is reportedly already hard at work analysing the squad.
It has already been claimed that a number of players are going to be in the new managers plans next season. He has reportedly already shown his plan to get the best out of Enzo Fernandez.
The goalkeeper position is one that has been looked at with great interest. It has already been stated that he is a great admirer of last season’s number one, Djordje Petrovic.

Robert Sanchez told he is part of Maresca’s plans at Chelsea
However, journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that it is his fellow goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who has now been told he is in the new boss’ plans.
He said: “There has been a narrative that he is going to be a victim of the new era, but it’s becoming clear that’s not necessarily the case.
“As Maresca begins this new era, I’m told there is a real urge to make sure there are no mixed messages within the squad.
“Sanchez has had some assurance that he is in the plans and that, while that flies in the face of other briefings in the last month around them looking for a new keeper, it’s important to consider how this club wants to now encourage a feeling of belonging and having the will to succeed.”
Sanchez not currently a starter
Sanchez hardly played in 2024 for the club, with injuries and poor form leading to an extended spell on the bench.
Pochettino was a fan early on though, describing him as ‘great’ last season.
One game he actually did play however was against Leicester City, who Maresca was in charge of at the time.
If this was his audition in front of a future manager, he wasn’t done many favours by teammate Axel Disasi, who managed to beat him from way out to give the Championship side hope.
However, he will get far more time to prove his worth when pre-season gets underway, with the Blues set for another tour of the United States.
