One goalkeeper who is currently being linked with a move to Chelsea is having a phenomenal season.
Chelsea are not light in the goalkeeper department, already having Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen in their first-team squad.
The Blues also have the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Djordje Petrovic out on loan. Chelsea recently triggered a clause in Kepa’s contract, preventing him from leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
After some very unconvincing moments from Sanchez this term, though, it looks like Chelsea could sign a new shot-stopper in the summer.

James Trafford has kept 21 clean sheets
Burnley’s James Trafford is one goalkeeper who is thought to have caught Chelsea’s attention.
Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Trafford is on the Blues’ shortlist.
The 22-year-old has really impressed for Burnley in the current campaign, keeping 21 clean sheets in 30 Championship games.
He is set to be a cheaper option than Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, who could cost £58m this summer. According to The Sun, Trafford has an asking price of around £20m.

Petr Cech’s phenomenal 2004/05 campaign
With Burnley having 15 games left to play in the Championship, Trafford is on course to surpass Petr Cech‘s best ever clean sheet tally.
But the 24 that the Chelsea legend managed to record back in the 2004/05 season, obviously came in the Premier League. There is simply no comparison.
All in all, while Trafford has performed well at Burnley this term, Enzo Maresca needs someone better and way more proven than the Englishman.
Chelsea already have a plethora of goalkeepers. If they are going to sign another one, then he has to be an upgrade on what they have already got. Playing in the Championship right now, Trafford has not proved that he is that.
If only there was another Cech lying about somewhere. With a shot-stopper of that calibre in the team, Chelsea would be doing much better in the Premier League.
