Chelsea’s potential £58m bid for ‘real talent’ this summer would be ‘almost impossible’ to turn down

Chelsea may be able to prise one of their reported targets away from his club this summer.

Chelsea had a quiet January transfer window but could be very busy when the market reopens again at the end of the season.

It has already been claimed that Chelsea could look to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

The Blues also appear to be interested in one of Gittens’ Dortmund teammates, who could be available at the right price.

Borussia Dortmund may be powerless to stop Gregor Kobel from joining Chelsea

Back in December, it was reported that Chelsea were looking at Gregor Kobel ahead of the summer transfer window.

The club still appear to have the goalkeeper on their radar, with Bild claiming that they are prepared to pay up to €70m (£58m) to sign him after the 2024/25 campaign concludes.

According to the German outlet, a bid of that amount would make it “almost impossible” for Kobel to remain at Dortmund.

Chelsea’s main two goalkeepers right now are Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen, but the former has made a couple of serious errors lately. As a result, Jorgensen replaced Sanchez between the sticks for the Blues’ 2-1 win against West Ham United on Monday.

What Chelsea think about Robert Sanchez and Gregor Kobel

Enzo Maresca has often defended Sanchez this season and despite the Spaniard making mistakes earlier in the campaign, this was the first time that he was actually dropped.

It is clear to see that the Chelsea manager really likes something about Sanchez. However, some at Stamford Bridge seem to have their doubts about him.

It has been alleged that Chelsea believe Kobel is a better fit for Maresca’s style than Sanchez.

Kobel has been described as a “real talent” by his former goalkeeper coach at Hoffenheim, Michael Rechner, who was quoted by the Bundesliga’s official website. And after Sanchez’s struggles this term, it looks like Chelsea supporters could get to see that real talent playing at Stamford Bridge one day.
